Lonza is proud to sponsor the Research Tissue Workshop, hosted by the European Association of Tissue and Cell Banks.
Representatives from three global leaders in human tissue and primary cell research will present at the workshop: Lonza, LifeNet Health, and BeCYTES, a BioIVT company.
This workshop will examine the scientific, ethical, regulatory, and operational principles governing human tissue donation for research. Faculty will compare international approaches to research donation, highlighting differences in regulatory frameworks, public perceptions, and authorization practices. Participants will gain a practical understanding of how donated tissues are recovered, distributed, and used for scientific and medical purposes.
The workshop will explore the use of human tissues in medical education, clinical research, disease modeling, drug discovery, therapeutic development, and preclinical studies. Faculty will also discuss organoids, humanized animal models, cross-regional bridging studies, and the growing regulatory push toward new approach methodologies (NAMs) and non-animal research methods.
Additional discussion will address the ethical and regulatory requirements for research donations from living and deceased donors.
Learning Objectives
